Mahatma Gandhi, the real leader


Mahatma Gandhi, was a selfless leader to the Indians. He helped in ensuring independence for Indian.

Gandhi was born on October 2, 1860 in Porbandar, the seaport and capital of Gujurat in India. 

At the age of 19 he arrived in London to study Law. He was called to bar in 1889. He then returned to India to practise Law but was offered a year work in South Africa as Counsel to a Muslim bus company.

In S.A, Gandhi became the victim of racial discrimination. During his journey to Pretoria, he was humiliated and ejected from a first class train compartment and severely beaten for refusing to relinquish his seat.

He strongly believed in Social Justice and general education of the people of India. And in 1894, he founded the natal Indian Congress in 1903, he established the weekly Indians Opinions which became a factor that led to his success as a leader.

Mahatma Gandhi, was a political leader and human rights activist. He did not accept any form of violence for change. He was a man of peace.

On January 30, 1948, he was assassinated.
